The CME is dedicated to improving and increasing manufacturing opportunities not only in Mississippi but also across America. We are dedicated because we believe that manufacturing is good for Mississippi and good for the United States of America. Data from multiple economic studies have shown that manufacturing has the largest multiplier effect of any industry in America. The multiplier effect describes the total economic benefit afforded to a community for every dollar spent in an industry. For every dollar of manufactured goods sold, $1.33 in output is seen in surrounding industries.
You may have read or heard that manufacturing jobs are the key to a large and healthy middle class in America. You may have also heard that manufacturing jobs have left America and are not coming back. The Center for Manufacturing Excellence believes that one of these statements is true and the other is demonstrably false. Modern manufacturing is a high-tech endeavor that enlists the talents of dozens of specialties to make a single product. These jobs not only provide a good salary but the number of jobs available has increased significantly every year since 2009.
Manufacturers need to meet consumer demands and thus has increased the need to make products closer to where their customers are located. Manufacturers that make products in the United States have found they are able to react to trends faster and ship products more efficiently. Further, manufacturers are using ever more sophisticated manufacturing techniques that require a higher level of skilled worker. The CME is designed specifically to produce these highly skilled Engineers, Accountants and Business persons.
